GNC TriFlex Analysis Summary

Unfortunately, GNC TriFlex didn’t prove to be a great joint support product. Despite the hype around TriFlex and great Amazon ratings, its formula underdelivers.

It contains some good ingredients, but its potential is ruined by the overall ineffective formula. Also, although TriFlex contains glucosamine, which is a great ingredient, it comes in an ineffective form. We would be much happier with GNC TriFlex if it had glucosamine sulfate instead of the glucosamine hydrochloride, and turmeric, ginger, and selenium as a part of its standard formula.

For now, GNC TriFlex doesn’t match the standards that the leading joint supplements on the market have set.

About GNC TriFlex

GNC TriFlex is a dietary supplement available in the shape of capsules or soft chews. It claims to nourish joint tissue by providing valuable nutrients. This helps maintain your joint health, mobility, and overall joint function.

Aging is a normal part of life and it comes with a set of its issues. Joint degeneration is one of them. This can lead to pain and in the end, stop you from doing the things you love.

Unfortunately, achy joints aren’t reserved for the elderly only. It can be a result of daily wear and tear too. Not being enough physically active makes our joints more fragile. But too much activity can lead to joint issues as well. The latter especially includes athletic people who are often guilty of pushing their bodies too hard.

No matter in which category you belong, if you have achy joints, GNC TriFlex might be the help you need. Its formula encourages joint flexibility, maintains function, and supports overall joint health.

Benefits

  • Nourishes joint tissue and cartilage with important nutrients
  • Promotes joint health and maintains normal joint function
  • Encourages joint flexibility and comfort

Who Makes GNC TriFlex?

TriFlex is produced by a well-known supplement company called GNC. GNC headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA and is one of the leading global health and performance product retailers.

Ingredients in GNC TriFlex

GNC TriFlex’s formula contains four different compounds for joint tissue support. These include:

  • Glucosamine Hydrochloride (1500 mg)
  • Chondroitin Sulfate (1200 mg)
  • MSM (Methylsulfonyl-methane) (900 mg)
  • Hyaluronic Acid (5mg)

Let’s take a closer look at each of them and see how good they are.

  • Glucosamine

Glucosamine is a pretty common ingredient in a joint health supplement.

Studies show that supplementation of glucosamine has some benefits in supporting joint health. It slows down the rate of collagen degradation and slightly reduces symptoms of osteoarthritis.

However, it is nowhere near as effective as osteoarthritis drugs. Therefore, glucosamine is not a substitution for the proper treatment. If you have a minor problem with joints, it can be of help. However, for more serious joint conditions, proper medical care is required.

The standard daily doses of glucosamine go from 900 – 1,500 mg. This means that TriFlex contains a good dose. However, here is the most important part. GNC TriFlex contains glucosamine in the form of Glucosamine Hydrochloride, which according to Examine.com  is ineffective.

So even though TriFlex contains a good glucosamine dose, it won’t do much here. The most potent form of glucosamine is Glucosamine sulfate salts and glucosamine sulfates. Unfortunately, GNC TriFlex doesn’t contain any of them.

  • Chondroitin

Chondroitin often comes in combination with Glucosamine, so it doesn’t surprise us to see it in TriFlex.

Although many people claim using chondroitin benefits them, current data doesn’t fully support their claims. More reliable studies show no benefits with chondroitin used individually nor combined with glucosamine.

  • Methylsulfonylmethane

Methylsulfonylmethane or shortly MSM is a compound that contains a sulfur molecule that has antioxidative and anti-inflammatory properties. Due to these properties, it has the potential for joint health support.

In combination with 1500mg of glucosamine, the used doses were 500mg of MSM. This makes the 900mg in TRiFlex a good dose. (source: WebMD).

However, due to the fact that the form of glucosamine in Triflex is ineffective, the individual dose of MSM seems too small to be effective on its own.

  • Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the human body – in the eyes, and in joint fluids. It is often used for skin wrinkles as well.

The FDA has approved hyaluronic acid injections in treating knee osteoarthritis. However, there is no good evidence that oral ingestion has benefits. Especially not in the dose present in GNC TriFlex.

Our Commentary on the GNC TriFlex’s Ingredients

From all of the seen, what do we think of GNC TriFlex? Is it good for supporting joint health?

Unfortunately no. The formula seems ineffective. It has a few decent ingredients (MSM), but due to too small individual dosage and overall ineffective formula, we don’t think it will benefit you that much.

In our opinion, it would be best to look for an effective joint support formula somewhere else because TriFlex doesn’t quite live up to its marketing claims.

Which GNC TriFlex Version To Choose?

GNC TriFlex comes in three different versions – TriFlex capsules, TriFlex soft chews, and TriFlex Fast-Acting capsules.

You may be confused about which is the best out of them for promoting joint health.

The formula of TriFlex capsules and soft chews is similar. The difference is the soft chews don’t contain Hyaluronic acid, while the rest of the formula is identical. If the taste is more important to you, then we’d go for the soft chews; although the lack of Hyaluronic acid does make it lag behind the capsule version a bit.

GNC TriFlex Fast-Acting is the most different out of the three. It contains the same amount of Glucosamine Hydrochloride and Chondroitin Sulfate, with additional Turmeric root and Boswellia Serrata extract. Also, it contains no Hyaluronic acid and noticeably less MSM (50mg instead of 900mg).

Which one is the best? Although the formula of the three is very similar, in our opinion GNC TriFlex Fast-Acting is slightly better than the rest. Turmeric root and Boswellia Serrata extract (ApresFlex®) are a good addition to the formula.

How to Use GNC TriFlex

Take daily three (3) tablets of the GNC TriFlex with a meal.

If you decide on GNC TriFlex soft chews, take with a meal one soft chew, 3 times per day.

On the other hand, you should take two (2) GNC Triflex Fast Acting capsules per day. Preferably with a meal too.

Side Effects – Is GNC TriFlex Safe?

According to the available data, the ingredients in TriFlex are safe and shouldn’t cause you any unwanted side effects. However, it is always advised to talk to a medical professional first before taking the supplement on your own.

Pricing & Value?

Depending on the GNC TriFlex version, the price varies. You can get TriFlex Soft Chews for $24.99, while the TriFlex and TriFlex Fast-Acting capsules both sell for $29.99 for 120 capsules or $59.99 for 240 capsules.

On the official GNC website, you can get 10% off by choosing a recurring delivery subscription. This way you can get GNC TriFlex for less money.

Other than on the official website, you can buy GNC TriFlex on Amazon, eBay, Walmart, and other well-known retailers.

Final Thoughts on GNC TriFlex

Considering the high ratings on Amazon (4.7 out 5) and positive customer reviews, we were really excited to see what GNC TriFlex had to offer.

Unfortunately, it didn’t fulfill any of our expectations. Its formula had potential but in the end, it showed to be ineffective.

The main ingredient glucosamine comes in an ineffective form (glucosamine hydrochloride). As for other ingredients, they are included in too light doses to make a significant impact on their own.

A much better choice would be glucosamine sulfate – it would make a tremendous difference in GNC TriFlex’s efficacy. Along with a few other important ingredients that are missing.

For now, GNC TriFlex doesn’t seem like the best choice as far as joint health is concerned.
