Relief Factor Ingredients in 2021 – What’s Inside Relief Factor? [updated]

Relief Factor is arguably the most hyped joint health product available today. Developed by a company Promdev LLC, Relief Factor is claimed to be a natural remedy for joint stiffness & pain relief; hence the name!

Relief Factor was developed by Pete and Seth Talbott, father and son, both experienced marketers and serial entrepreneurs with no medical expertise. Outside of the realm of supplements, Pete and Seth Talbott are known for their coffee subscription services and software programs.

Interestingly, they claim various benefits of Relief Factor’s ingredients, including a reduction in pain associated with exercise, aging, and everyday life.

The manufacturer goes on to say that Relief Factor ingredients were hand-picked by doctors and other medical experts, and are clinically backed. But what are those special ingredients chosen after so much research?

In today’s report, we will take a closer look at the ingredients in Relief Factor. We will inspect each Relief Factor ingredient in detail, analyzing what it is claimed to do, what the clinical studies say about it, and what we think about the ingredients side effect risks. The Ingredients in Relief Factor

What ingredients does Relief Factor contain? Have all of them really been proven to relieve joint pain?

Here is the recently updated list of ingredients in Relief Factor as of 2021:

  • Epimedium (20% Icariin) – 200mg
  • Turmeric phospholipid (18% curcuminoids) – 667mg
  • Japanese fleeceflower (96% resveratrol) – 70mg
  • EPA – 647mg
  • DHA – 253mg

Some ingredients in Relief Factor are quite unusual; we do not normally see them used in joint supplements. You’d be forgiven for not knowing what these compounds are, or what they do!

On the flip side, Relief Factor also contains natural ingredients we do often encounter in joint supplements. These ingredients you have probably already seen if you have been researching natural joint pain relief supplements for some time.

We will now analyze each ingredient in Relief Factor up closer. Any questions, be sure to post them in the comments at the bottom of the page.

Epimedium(200mg)

This ingredient is commonly found in supplements today, although it’s more commonly known as Horny Goat Weed. As far as the available evidence goes, Epimedium has no effect on joint function at all.

Many people say Epimedium helps them with joint problems. They even sometimes mention the mechanism behind the purported benefits – icariin reportedly promotes blood flow. But we’re yet to find strong data that supports these effects. Until we see robust clinical evidence showing Epimedium reduces joint pain, we’ll assume it’s a pointless ingredient.

This is not a great start for Relief Factor. The 200mg of Epimedium is a lot of capsule space to waste.

Turmeric(667mg)

Turmeric is a common ingredient in joint supplements. Almost every single flexibility and anti-inflammatory stack you find on sale today likely have some turmeric in it. Taking large amounts of curcumin – turmeric’s active compound – will definitely help lower joint inflammation & aching. But you will need to consume turmeric the right way for it to actually work.

Our body has a hard time absorbing turmeric on its own. It needs to be combined with piperine, which is black pepper extract. Piperine is shown to enhance the absorption of turmeric’s anti-inflammatory compounds by about 2000%. You need to either combine turmeric with piperine or use an optimized form of turmeric which increases bioavailability.

Relief Factor uses plain, standard turmeric (even though the curcumin level is high).

Japanese fleeceflower root (70mg)

Japanese fleeceflower, or Japanese knotweed, is an extremely harsh weed, and a source of stress for many landscapers. This plant can grow so fast that it causes structural damage to your house before you can realize it’s a problem.

We have no idea why Japanese knotweed is in Relief Factor. Yes, it contains some resveratrol, but there is absolutely no evidence that it has a positive effect on joint pain, flexibility, or long-term function. We have no reason to think it might reduce joint pain; it hasn’t even been used for joint pain in traditional medicine.

It could very well be that the manufacturer has added Japanese Knotweed to Relief Factor to make the ingredient label look more interesting without having to spend a lot of money – this weed grows pretty much everywhere!

EPA/DHA (900mg)

EPA and DHA are anti-inflammatory omega-3 fatty acids found in marine life, such as algae and fish. Omega-3s support your cardiovascular function, brain cell maintenance and growth, as well as maintaining healthy, flexible joints.

Essentially, EPA and DHA are potent anti-inflammatory compounds. Supplementing with large amounts of these omega-3 fatty acids can reduce swelling that leads to so much joint pain. The 900mg in Relief Factor is a decent serving, but it’s far from the recommended dosage of 2,700mg of combined EPA and DHA. (source)

Our Commentary of Relief Factor’s Ingredients

Looking at its ingredients, we don’t think Relief Factor is capable of doing what it claims. There are some serious issues with the formula that make us seriously doubt whether this supplement will have an effect on joint function at all.

The main issue with Relief Factor ingredients is that some of them are completely unproven. Japanese fleece flower is not common in any supplements, not just joint supplements.

And as far as we can tell, Epimedium has no clinical data backing its effectiveness for joint loss. All we can find are unsubstantiated rumors about lessening inflammation. There’s no research to back this up!

Basically, half of Relief Factor’s formula is taken up by untested, ineffective ingredients.

What about the other half? The truth it, the other half is omega-3s and turmeric, two ingredients that are proven to be effective joint pain relievers. But even with these, there are some issues.

The turmeric that Relief Factor is using is just standard turmeric – the same as one from your local supermarket. It’s a lot more affordable to just buy a bag of plain turmeric powder if you want to use this for your joints.

As for omega-3s, it’s better to include more fish in your weekly diet, and you’ll get the same effect. For far less money, too.

In other words, Relief Factor’s ingredients are something you can buy from any supermarket, therefore, buying this product is not the smartest idea if you’re looking for a good value joint product.

All things considered, Relief Factor’s ingredient formula doesn’t look great to us. Some of the compounds are untested, and the ones that do work, are lacking quality.

There are better joint formulas available on the market no doubt about it.

Can You Make Your Own Relief Factor?

By now, it’s obvious that some ingredients in Relief Factor are effective for alleviating joint pain while others are not. It’s also clear that some of the ingredients are cheap and widely available, while others are more difficult to obtain and a bit pricier.

As a result, many people wonder, “can I simply make my own Relief Factor?“Is it more affordable than buying the product itself?”

The answer is a resounding yes. Ironically, the least expensive ingredients in Relief Factor are also the most effective. The unusual ingredients such as Epimedium and Japanese Knotweed are completely unnecessary and not known to be effective at relieving joint problems.

Creating your own custom Relief Factor would be easy, and would cost less than buying the product itself. Not only that, purchasing the most effective Relief Factor ingredient individually – while ignoring the pointless fillers – will likely get you better results than you would get from Relief Factor while saving you money.

To make your own Relief Factor, buy a premium-quality turmeric extract standardized to have 90% or more curcumin, and combine it with omega-3 fats, some blueberries, and grapes into a smoothie. Having this daily will recreate all the benefits of Relief Factor, while at the same time being much cheaper!

Conclusion

Relief Factor is not the worst joint supplement, but for the price, it’s not the best one either. Given the ingredients used, we can’t recommend it as a good option.

Half of its formula consists of pointless ingredients that have never been shown to improve joint pain or mobility. The only effective ingredients in Relief Factor – omega-3 oils and turmeric – are things you can buy for much cheaper at your local supermarket.
